GM, VP - Aircraft Sales
In 1976, at the age of 13, Blake Tumbleson picked up a phone in one of his father’s offices and began to talk airplanes with prospective buyers, brokers, and aircraft owners. Scared to death but eager to get into the same business that his father, Bill Tumbleson, had been in for so many years, Blake stammered, stuttered, and sweat, but continued to make call after call. After some time of doing this and after asking his father countless questions, a comfort started to settle in and Blake learned to sell aircraft and close transactions.
The next year he took his first flying lesson a few days after this 14th birthday and eventually soloed several planes at the age of 16 and secured his private rating at the age of 17. Soon after he earned a multi-engine rating (ask him to tell the story about his check ride…you won’t find it in print anywhere if he can help it.) Blake stopped flying when saving money for college became more important to him. In 1987 Blake graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN with a degree in marketing. This was a 4-year degree that took 6 years to achieve (work – save – attend college – repeat.)
In the ensuing years Blake has owned Nashville Jet Associates, a company started by his father, and Tumbleson Aviation Consulting. Between the ownership of those two companies, Blake was hired to create an aircraft sales division for a major FBO in the south, where he worked for 6 years until establishing Tumbleson Aviation Consulting, LLC in 2011.
In the 30+ years since making that first phone call in 1976 at the age of 13, Blake has sold hundreds of aircraft, in 16 different countries, valuing hundreds of millions of dollars. By focusing on well-maintained aircraft, being honest about the condition of the aircraft, charging fair and reasonable fees for his services, and reaching the right buyers, he has established a solid record of consistent production. Many brokers have come and gone during the past 30 years. The brokers with conservative and straightforward business practices continue to thrive however, during the tough times and in the good.
In 2015 Blake joined Murfreesboro Aviation, an Authorized Cessna Service Center, as General Manager and VP-Aircraft Sales. This has allowed greater access to Cessna products, services, and personnel which has proven to be a mutually advantageous partnership.
