OUR STORY
From our humble beginnings to becoming a trusted name in aviation, our story is one of passion, precision, and dedication to keeping you safe—on the ground and in the air.
Up Here, It’s About Trust
In 2009, Jim Gardner, our founder, discovered the transformative power of aviation. As a fire investigator, Jim traveled extensively to determine the cause and origin of fires. The long hours on the road sparked an idea—why not take to the skies? Learning to fly didn’t just save Jim time; it ignited a passion that eventually became Murfreesboro Aviation.
From the beginning, our mission has been clear: to make aviation accessible, safe, and trustworthy for everyone. Jim’s approach, shaped by years of investigative precision, remains our foundation. Every decision we make—whether it’s teaching someone to fly, maintaining an aircraft, or upgrading avionics—is grounded in the values of safety, prevention, and accuracy.
Today, we offer comprehensive services, from flight training to maintenance, with a dedicated team that shares Jim’s commitment to excellence. We know that aviation is about more than just flying; it’s about trust—on the ground and in the air.
The rest of our story is still being written, and we’d love for you to be part of it. Whether you’re learning to fly or looking for reliable maintenance, give us a call. Together, let’s take your journey to new heights.

About Jim Gardner
Before Murfreesboro Aviation took flight, Jim Gardner built a stellar reputation in a very different field—fire investigations. As the founder of Cause & Origin Fire Investigations (C&O Fire Investigations), Jim dedicated his career to uncovering the causes of fires and their points of origin. His work required precision, analytical thinking, and unwavering attention to detail, all of which earned him recognition as an outstanding investigator and reliable expert witness.
Jim’s business thrived as he worked tirelessly to provide answers in the wake of disasters. From interviewing witnesses to conducting on-site testing, every case was meticulously documented, and his findings often stood up in court as critical evidence. But the demanding schedule also meant endless hours of driving between investigations, leaving little time to enjoy life outside of work.
In 2009, Jim realized there had to be a better way to manage his time and maximize his reach. That realization led him to pursue his private pilot’s license, marking the beginning of his journey into aviation. What started as a practical solution for saving time soon became a passion that would reshape his life and career.
The same attention to detail and dedication that defined Jim’s work in fire investigations now shapes every aspect of Murfreesboro Aviation.
